About the Role

Based in the Gladstone region, this role supports project delivery by driving strong local engagement, workforce participation and social performance outcomes. As the Project Engagement Officer, you’ll work across project teams, subcontractors and community stakeholders to maximise local opportunities and ensure the project delivers meaningful social and economic benefits while minimising community disruption.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support local workforce participation and recruitment outcomes
  • Assist Indigenous engagement and employment pathway initiatives
  • Build relationships with community groups and First Nations stakeholders
  • Coordinate communication on jobs, skills and workforce pathways
  • Support apprenticeships, traineeships and entry-level programs
  • Assist with community-facing workforce matters and enquiries
  • Manage stakeholder feedback, issues and complaints professionally
  • Track and report on workforce and participation outcomes
The successful candidate will be a self‑starter with:
  • Experience in engagement, workforce or project-based roles
  • Exposure to construction, infrastructure or similar environments
  • Strong knowledge of the Gladstone or Central Queensland region
  • Ability to engage respectfully with First Nations communities
  • Experience supporting recruitment or workforce initiatives
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
  • Ability to coordinate across stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Qualification in community development, communications, human resources, Indigenous studies, social science, project administration or a related discipline is desirable.
  • White Card, or ability to obtain one prior to commencement, is desirable.
  • Current QLD/Aus Drivers Licence
