The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to lead environmental management across our Victoria and Tasmania infrastructure projects construction operations.  This is a fulltime permanent position based in our Hawthorn East office with hybrid/work from home flexibility, and travel to various VIC/TAS projects required.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an environmental professional who enjoys being close to projects, partnering with operational teams and driving practical environmental outcomes. You'll provide expert advice across all stages of the project lifecycle, from tender submissions and project mobilisation through to construction delivery and completion.

We're looking for someone who can influence, challenge the status quo where appropriate and bring new ideas, while understanding how to work effectively within established business systems and processes.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead environmental performance across BMD Constructions VIC & TAS operations, ensuring compliance, consistency and continuous improvement
  • Provide expert environmental leadership and practical support to project teams throughout the full project lifecycle
  • Support bids, tenders and pre-contract activities, including environmental risk assessments, methodologies, budgets and management plans
  • Manage environmental compliance obligations, approvals, permits, audits, reporting and regulator engagement
  • Lead environmental incident investigations, implement corrective actions and drive strong environmental outcomes
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement while developing environmental capability across the business

What You’ll Bring

  • 8+ years' environmental management experience
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, compliance and industry best practice
  • Experience managing environmental incidents, investigations and regulator interactions
  • Demonstrated experience supporting tenders, bids and pre-contract activities
  • Ability to influence project teams and stakeholders without direct authority
  • Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
  • Passion for environmental excellence and continuous improvement
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with a willingness to roll up your sleeves
