About the Role

We are offering a unique opportunity for a Safety Trainee / Graduate to join BMD and gain valuable hands-on experience working on a major renewable energy project. Whether you're commencing your career or have recently completed a relevant qualification, you'll be supported by experienced Health and Safety professionals while developing practical skills in construction safety management.
 
For trainees, BMD will support your studies towards a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or similar qualification) while you earn a competitive salary and gain real-world experience on site. This role combines structured learning, mentoring and on-the-job development, creating a pathway towards future Safety Advisor and Health & Safety leadership opportunities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of project health and safety management systems
  • Assist with site inspections, audits, risk assessments and safety observations
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings and site safety walks
  • Assist with incident reporting, investigations and corrective action tracking
  • Maintain safety documentation, records and reporting requirements
  • Support project compliance with WHS legislation, standards and company procedures
  • Promote a positive safety culture and encourage proactive safety behaviours across the workforce
  • Learn and develop a strong understanding of construction and renewable energy safety practices

 

The successful candidate will be a self‑starter with:

  • Looking to commence a career in health and safety through a traineeship pathway
  • A recent graduate with a qualification in Work Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline
  • Passionate about creating safe workplaces and supporting positive outcomes for people
  • A proactive, observant and detail-oriented individual
  • A confident communicator who can engage with a diverse site-based workforce
  • Motivated to learn and develop within a dynamic construction environment
  • Able to travel to site daily and reside within reasonable commuting distance of Palmer Wind Farm (Under 1 Hour Commute)
  • Candidates who have recently completed a Certificate IV OHS or studying a Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety highly desired
