About the role

As a Senior Planner at BMD, you will take a lead role across both pre‑contracts and project delivery, driving the development of high‑quality, fully integrated construction programs and planning strategies. Acting as a trusted advisor to project and bid teams, you will provide strategic input into methodology, sequencing and risk management, ensuring optimal outcomes across complex infrastructure projects.

This role is suited to an experienced planning professional with a strong engineering or delivery background, looking to influence project performance at a senior level while mentoring others and shaping best practice across the business.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development of tender and delivery programs across multiple projects
  • Provide strategic planning advice to senior stakeholders and leadership teams
  • Analyse tender documentation to identify program, risk and commercial impacts
  • Develop fully resourced, cost‑loaded and risk‑adjusted construction programs
  • Drive planning strategy through tender, negotiation and project delivery phases
  • Oversee progress monitoring, reporting, KPIs and earned value performance
  • Lead delay analysis, claims support and extension of time assessments
  • Identify key risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation strategies
  • Mentor and guide planners and project teams to uplift planning capability
  • Champion continuous improvement in planning systems, tools and processes

 

About you

You will ideally have:

  • 7+ years’ experience across civil construction or infrastructure projects
  • Extensive experience in planning on major or complex projects
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of contract frameworks
  • Advanced expertise in planning software (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project)
  • Proven ability to lead planning across multiple projects or tenders
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills at all levels
  • Experience mentoring or leading planning teams
  • Civil Engineering or related qualification preferred
